F.A.Q.
How do I choose what
type of program is best for my group?
All programs are designed to accommodate various skill
levels of participants. All programs are customized
to fit the objectives of the group. When you make the
call to our office we will design the program to fit
your needs and your budget.
What do I need to bring?
Do I have to buy expensive gear?
What you would need to bring, all depends on the program
you are participating in and what activities you are
participating in. You probably already have most of
what you need. WLE provides
equipment such as: canoes, tents, stoves,
cooking equipment, and safety gear. Do not feel like
you need to go out and buy the most expensive gear.
For a detailed list of items
to bring,
please
call and
ask
for an
equipment checklist.
Is it safe?
Safety is the main priority.
All Instructors that work at WLE have a minimum of
standard first aid, CPR, and Bronze Cross swimming
certifications.

further please call WLE at 1-866-730-5328.
Do I need to have any
experience?
NO, very few first time participants have any
experience. The
staff will
take the time to show you everything you need
to know
and our goal is to have you going back home
feeling more comfortable and confident.
Where will I be sleeping?
Depending on what program you have selected sleeping
arrangement may change. If the program you are participating
in is mostly in camp, WLE can arrange comfortable
accommodations here at the facility. On an expeditions,
all participants and staff will be
sleeping
in tents.
All
of the tents will be relatively close to each other
including the staff tent. Staff will ensure that
all participants are comfortably in their tents prior
to retiring for the night.
What will I be eating
while on expeditions?
Campers will receive three meals a day while on their
expeditions. All meals are designed to meet all nutritional
requirements but are still plate pleasing. Our trip
menus might concise of bacon wraps, peanut butter & jam
wraps, lasagna and famous oat delights for a floating
snack. Other examples of trip food items are apple
crisp, pizza wraps, spaghetti, shepherd’s pie,
quesadillas, chicken alfredo and so much more.
What is a typical day
like on a WLE expedition?
You will ‘rise and shine’ bright and early to welcome a new adventure.
The group will work together to take down tents, cook breakfast, and get the
campsite cleaned up. Campers may have a chance to have a swim prior to getting
in the canoes to discover new lakes or rivers. The group will paddle and portage
for the morning and may stop along the way if they see some wildlife such as
Moose or beavers. The group will stop for a “floating” lunch or
a “shore lunch”. They will also have the opportunity to take another
swim. After lunch they will paddle and portage a little bit further until they
stop in the early afternoon at their campsite for the night. Once at the campsite
they will get their tents and shelters set-up and then have time to play! They
will have time to fish, swim, or just enjoy the wilderness. As the day rolls
on, dinner will get prepared and then the group will usually enjoy songs and
stories around the campfire. And then the group will have a good night's sleep
falling asleep to the loon calls and thinking of what adventures lie ahead
for tomorrow.
